This is a visualisation of India's 61.6 crore workers across 118 occupations, built from the Periodic Labour Force Survey 2025 (January to December 2025) unit-level microdata, the first calendar-year round, released by the National Statistics Office in March 2026. The size of each rectangle corresponds to the number of workers in that occupation. The colour can be changed between AI Exposure, Automation Risk, Median Wage, Formalization Potential, and Gig Platform Potential using the buttons below.
A research tool for visually exploring Periodic Labour Force Survey 2025 unit-level microdata mapped to National Classification of Occupations 2015 codes, covering India's 61.6 crore workers. This is not a report, a paper, or a serious economic publication. It is a development tool for exploring India's labour market data visually. Built by Konko Maji, inspired by karpathy/jobs. The AI Exposure colour can also be re-run with a different prompt, for example: robotics exposure, offshoring risk, climate transition impact.
Caveat on AI Exposure scores: These are rough estimates from an LLM, not rigorous predictions. A high score does not mean the job will disappear. Software developers score 9/10 because AI is already reshaping their work, but demand for software keeps growing as each developer becomes more productive. The score does not account for demand elasticity, latent demand, regulatory barriers, or the specific realities of India's largely informal economy. Many high-exposure occupations will be reshaped rather than replaced.
